Contract Project Safety Specialist
OMI Environmental Solutions (OMIES) is looking for a Contract Project Safety Specialist for various projects in the Southeast U.S.
The Contract Project Safety Specialist’s Primary Job Functions:
Responsible for implementation of OMI Environmental Solutions Safety and Health Program
Respond to and help coordinate all injury/incident situations
Assist in investigations of incidents and monitor investigations related to contractor injury cases
Review all injury/incident reports and classify per OSHA guidelines
Gather safety and health related data and provide information to assist in timely communications to the work force
Conduct toolbox topic safety meetings
Conduct safety audits, inspections, and permit compliance
Performs inspections of and work to facilitate improvement of potential workplace hazards, congested locations, fire protection, access into areas for emergency response, eyewash stations etc.
Maintain and have readily available all safety documentation, such as toolbox topic sign in sheets, site specific health and safety plan (SSHSP), injury and incident reports.
Intervene with the work group to correct unsafe actions or conditions
Provide feedback to assist personnel in proper hazard assessment and resolution of unsafe conditions/acts associated with work activities
Maintain a high field presence
Job Requirements Preferred:
A degree or relevant work experience in Industrial Hygiene, Safety, Construction Management, Industrial Technology.
Background in field safety execution, construction/industrial safety, or other safety related field
A minimum of 3-5 years’ operating contractually as a safety professional in an industrial, professional and/or environmental setting
Demonstrated commitment to safe work practices
Knowledge of OSHA safe work standards to include CFR’s 1910 and 1926.
Knowledge of industry safety policies and procedures
Effective oral and written communication skills
Effective meeting facilitation, organizational & problem solving capabilities, and interpersonal skills
Proficiency with standard software packages including: MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook
Familiarity with construction, maintenance, & turnaround processes
Preferred Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
- Safety Accreditations including
- Occupational Health and Safety Technologist (OHST)
- Certified Occupational Safety Specialist (COSS)
- Certified Health and Safety Technologist (CHST)
